Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Yoonjee Koh as Program Director for the University’s new Master of Architecture degree program in the Department of Human Sciences and Design, effective June 1, 2026.

“We were looking for a leader of the highest caliber, and we found that in Professor Koh,” said Elise King, IDEC, NCIDQ, Interim Chair for the Department of Human Sciences and Design and Associate Professor of Interior Design. “She brings remarkable academic and creative achievement, along with a thoughtful engagement with how architecture shapes human experience. She is especially well-positioned to engage the intersection of faith, meaning, and the built environment, leading a program that is both forward-looking and deeply grounded in Baylor's mission.”

As the Director of Intermediate Architecture Studios in the School of Architecture at Boston Architectural College (BAC) from 2017 to 2024, Koh oversaw onsite, hybrid, and online architecture programs. She developed and launched the BAC’s first fully online Intermediate Architecture program. During her tenure, the online program saw 600 percent growth in enrollment. In addition, Koh led efforts leading to the BAC’s receipt of 8-year (the maximum attainable) accreditation from the National Architectural Accrediting Board. At the BAC, Koh founded discursive efforts like Conversation at the Loft, which fostered student-driven discussions on topics surrounding the design industry to promote critical-thinking.

Koh earned her Master in Design Studies, History, and Philosophy of Design as well as her Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Koh has worked as an architectural designer, design consultant, and project manager. She also founded the Boston Architectural College Journal and served as the Editorial board member and Associate Editor – Social Media for the Journal of Architectural Education.

Outside of her academic and professional work, Koh enjoys playing tennis and cycling, as well as tending to her garden, and cooking meals with her husband.

"The opportunity to serve as the founding director of Baylor’s Architecture program is certainly an exciting one.” Koh said. “I am grateful to be part of a pioneering effort to shape the next generation of architects at an institution that values purpose and intention. Upholding Baylor’s vision, I look forward to working with fellow colleagues to create a meaningful architectural education.”

Approved by the Baylor Board of Regents in November 2025, the Master of Architecture program anticipates enrolling its first cohort in Summer 2027. The hybrid program will incorporate design excellence with a commitment to human flourishing, wellness, and sustainability, reflecting Baylor’s faith-integrated approach to education to prepare students for licensure in the high-demand profession of architecture.
