Meet people where they are
"All that is needed is a willing heart and open hands, ready to serve those in need with all the blessings that we possess." —Dr. Quinene
“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” — Matthew 25:37–40
In Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, we prepare leaders in health and quality of life through science, scholarship, and innovation. Our faculty, staff, and students are united by a deep commitment to service—an enduring heart for helping others—and a dedication to learning and teaching the intricate processes involved in preventing, identifying, and managing disorders and injuries.

Yet, as we strive for professional excellence in our respective fields, let us not lose sight of another powerful reminder found in Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” This verse reminds us that our efforts—whether in clinical care, research, education, or simple acts of compassion—carry spiritual significance when done with the right heart. When we serve others with sincerity and excellence, we reflect God’s love and bring glory to Him. Our work, no matter how ordinary or complex, becomes a form of worship when done in His name.
Therefore, we are called to meet people where they are. That means offering help in any form, no matter how basic, and recognizing the inherent dignity and worth in every person we serve. There are no prerequisites—no degrees, certifications, nor licenses—required to answer this calling. All that is needed is a willing heart and open hands, ready to serve those in need with all the blessings that we possess. In doing so, we are not only caring for individuals and communities; we are honoring and serving our Lord.
