Tiffany Barrett

Tiffany Barrett, PT, DPT, DSc, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy in Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, has been appointed, effective April 2026, by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, which regulates the practice of physical therapy for the State of Texas.

“The Department of Physical Therapy is excited to have Tiffany serve on the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners,” said Brian Young, PT, DSc, Clinical Professor and Chair of Baylor’s Department of Physical Therapy. “Her selection illustrates the strength of Baylor faculty to serve in a position of public trust. Tiffany’s strong background as a clinician and educator will be of great service to Texans.”

Barrett joined the Baylor faculty in August 2025 and is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy who holds certifications in dry needling, running, gait analysis, and hybrid learning. Barrett has served as a Delegate at Large for the Texas Physical Therapy State Assembly since 2024 and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy.

As of December 31, 2025, there were over 23,600 actively licensed physical therapists and over 11,800 actively licensed Physical Therapy Assistants in Texas. As a member of the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, Barrett will support the Board’s mission to protect the public by helping to ensure that physical therapy services are provided safely, ethically, and competently. She will participate in the review and development of rules and policies that guide physical therapy practice in the state and contribute to decisions related to licensure, compliance, professional standards, and disciplinary matters.

Barrett’s appointment is just the latest example of the rising influence and esteem of Baylor’s Department of Physical Therapy. In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for Best Physical Therapy Programs, Baylor’s hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program was ranked #40 out of 278 programs, positioning it as #3 in Texas for all programs and #1 for hybrid DPT programs.

“I am deeply honored to receive this appointment and to have the opportunity to serve the people of Texas and the PT profession,” Barrett said. “Baylor’s mission to prepare leaders for worldwide service resonates deeply with me, and I see this role as a meaningful way to live out that mission through professional stewardship, ethical leadership, and service to the public. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in a way that reflects what I hope to model for our students each day: lead with integrity, care deeply for people, and steward well the opportunities God places before us.”
