Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Weidman-Evans, PharmD, BC-ADM, as Clinical Associate Professor and Chair of the Student Success and Progressions Committee for the Physician Assistant Studies (PA) program.

“We are so happy that Dr. Weidman-Evans has joined the PA program and Baylor family,” Meredith Quinene, DHSc, MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA, Director of the Physician Assistant Studies program, said. “Her background as a clinical pharmacist brings a unique perspective to Baylor’s PA education and will undoubtably enrich our innovative curriculum. We are blessed to have her!”

Weidman-Evans is a licensed pharmacist and board-certified advanced diabetes manager. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy, graduating cum laude, from University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She then completed her pharmacy practice residency, with an emphasis in community care, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s School of Pharmacy.

Weidman-Evans’ teaching and research interests include diabetes, interprofessional education, metabolic syndrome, student remediation, and student wellness. She comes to Baylor from Louisiana State University Health Sciences School of Allied Health Professions, where she was Professor and Director of Assessment for the Department of Physician Assistants. While there, she was twice presented both the PA Faculty of the Year Award and School of Allied Health Professions Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, received the LSU Health Department of Family Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award, and was the 2019 recipient of the Allen A. Copping Award for Excellence in Teaching—the institution’s highest teaching award.

In addition to her academic positions, Weidman-Evans has worked for more than 20 years as a clinical pharmacist. Now, as a professor skilled in didactic and clinical teaching, she enjoys making time to mentor students and new faculty and serves her profession through organizational involvement and advocacy. In her free time, Weidman-Evans enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband and two children.

“I am so blessed to join Baylor and this inspiring, expert team in building our new PA program,” Weidman-Evans said. “I am eager to contribute to a curriculum that blends cutting-edge medical knowledge and skills with Baylor’s mission of service and leadership, and I am confident that our program will produce highly skilled, compassionate, and service-minded PAs who will make a lasting impact in their local communities.”
