Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Fuqua, CCC-SLP, as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).

“We are thrilled that Professor Fuqua made the decision to join the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders,” said Michaela Ritter, EdD, CCC-SLP, holder of the Martin Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. “Professor Fuqua’s exceptional expertise in assistive technology, along with her extensive experience as a clinical educator, will enrich the educational journey of our students, providing them with invaluable insights and guidance. Her dedication and expertise will contribute greatly to our academic community.”

Fuqua received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations at Texas Tech University and her Master of Science in Communication, with an emphasis in bilingual language acquisition, at Arizona State University. During her time in Arizona, she began studying speech and hearing sciences. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed speech-language pathologist. Fuqua is involved with the “School-Based Issues” and “Augmentative and Alternative Communication” ASHA Special Interest Groups. Previously, Fuqua worked within skilled nursing and school settings, including Robinson Independent School District and Waco Independent School District.

Fuqua is deeply involved at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, in Robinson, Texas, where she volunteers in the church choir, living Nativity, and Vacation Bible School. Fuqua loves spending time in the outdoors. She often goes on hikes and camping adventures, while also taking pleasure in relaxing on the porch with family and friends. She enjoys gardening, listening to podcasts, traveling, and experiencing new restaurants.

Fuqua served as an adjunct faculty member at Baylor before being hired into her new full-time role.

“Not only is the CSD Department well-known for its exceptional care and treatment within the community, but also its deep commitment to compassion and faith,” Fuqua said. “I am excited about joining Baylor’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, where along with my colleagues, I can use my knowledge, professional experiences, and Christian values to nurture, inspire, and equip the next generation of speech-language pathologists.”
