Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Monsisvais, CCC-SLP, as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).

“We are excited to welcome Lisa Monsisvais to the Department. Her rich experience in medical units, along with her specialization in feeding and swallowing, brings invaluable expertise to our program. Lisa’s clinical skills and commitment to improving patient outcomes make her an outstanding addition,” said Michaela Ritter, EdD, CCC-SLP, holder of the Martin Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. “As a dedicated educator and a passionate speech-language pathologist, we look forward to the significant contributions she will make to our department and to the continued growth of our program.”

Monsisvais received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Texas at Dallas.

As a dedicated speech-language pathologist for 18 years, Monsisvais has clinical experience in acute care, home health, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinics (adult and pediatric), and skilled nursing facilities. While working at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest, she developed a clinical experience and curriculum for students to increase their exposure to modified barium swallow studies (MBSS). For hospital staff, she created competency processes for performance of MBSS and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluations of swallowing (FEES). She is excited to now bring her extensive experience in these areas into an academic community.

Monsisvais grew up in Robinson, Texas, and lives there now with her husband, Josh, three children, and her “pups,” Cookie and Piper. She loves coaching her kids in little league sports, hanging out at the beach, and reading. Currently, she serves as a Board Member of the Robinson Education Foundation.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to join Baylor’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders,” Monsisvais said. “I’m passionate about serving the community as a speech-language pathologist, and I hope to instill this same enthusiasm in the students at Baylor while learning alongside the esteemed faculty of the CSD program.”
