Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Kacie Dolezel, CCC-SLP, as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).

“We are delighted that Professor Dolezel made the decision to join the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders,” expressed Michaela Ritter, EdD, CCC-SLP, holder of the Martin Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in language and literacy assessment and intervention. Professor Dolezel’s dedication to advancing knowledge and nurturing student growth is poised to enrich the educational experience and foster excellence within our program, department, and institution.”

A two-time Baylor graduate, Dolezel earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Department in which she now teaches. She also previously served as an adjunct faculty member in Baylor’s Language and Literacy Clinic and supervised graduate student clinicians during Camp Success. Dolezel is licensed through the State of Texas and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology. She is a member of the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Dolezel has worked as a speech-language pathologist in a variety of settings, including public schools, private practice, hospitals, home health, and adult facilities. Most recently, she served as a speech-language pathologist for Lorena Independent School District. Dolezel is passionate about working with school-aged students who have language difficulties and has expertise in the areas of language (comprehension and expression), literacy (reading, writing, and spelling), and speech sound disorders (articulation and phonological). In 2023, she received ASHA’s Distinguished Early Career Professional Certificate.

Dolezel, who is very engaged with her church family, reads a daily reminder from Psalm 71:23, “My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.” She finds joy sitting on her back patio, gardening, and trips to the beach, along with crawfish boils with family and friends.

It is with great pride that she can return to Baylor—this time to inspire the next generation of speech-language pathologists.

“Becoming a part of the CSD faculty has been a great blessing in my life. From my experience as a student to now being a faculty member, I am greatly honored to work alongside such great co-workers in this department,” Dolezel said. “This faculty embodies a welcoming, encouraging, and exceptional work ethic in each of its members, pushing us to improve our knowledge for our students, model a compassionate heart for those whom we serve, and exude Christ’s love in the workplace.”
