Robbins College Presents First-Ever Pure Gold Awards
On December 13, 2022, the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences honored its first-ever Pure Gold Award recipients at a celebratory reception and dinner. The Pure Gold initiative honors outstanding faculty and staff in the categories of research, teaching, and service. Recipients are nominated by their peers in the College and then reviewed by the Pure Gold Review Committee, and results are announced via email and the Robbins College website.
Robbins College Dean Jason Carter created the Pure Gold Awards this Fall as a way to “acknowledge the remarkable faculty and staff that we have in Robbins College and to celebrate their successes.” As this was Dean Carter’s first semester on campus, Pure Gold allowed him to get to know the work being done by Robbins College faculty and staff better while “letting them know how appreciated they are.” Leadership across the College collaborated to develop the process for nominations and awards.
The Pure Gold reception, planned by Robbins College staff, featured a dinner, awards presented by Dean Carter, and an address from both Baylor Provost Nancy Brickhouse and President Linda Livingstone. As a special part of the awards ceremony, the faculty and staff members who submitted nominations for the award winners joined their colleagues on stage to read their nomination statements. Faculty and staff also enjoyed a s’mores bar, a live jazz band, and an appearance from Baylor mascots Bruiser and Marigold.
President Livingstone’s address celebrated the recipients’ work as well as the nominators’ selflessness and appreciation for their peers, highlighting how Robbins College’s work to improve health and quality of life aligns with Baylor’s goals and global human needs.
Of the event, Dean Carter says, “It was so wonderful to have President Livingstone and Provost Brickhouse there to hear about the great work being done across the college and to honor the faculty and staff and the work they do to carry out the wonderful mission of Baylor.”
Robbins College looks forward to honoring more faculty and staff in the Spring Semester, and to the continuing evolution of Pure Gold. Click here to view the full list of Pure Gold Award recipients and learn more about their achievements.
